Good Morning, Nippon.
Starting this new blog when it is a little bit more than a week since the devastation in Japan. Growing up my first cross-culture experience was about Japan. The cartoon, the toy, comic books, Godzilla, and my favorite - Gundam. You know, those complicated model kits you have to build it yourself for hours and by the end of the day, you have a sense of achievement with a little robot in your hand. It was a fascination since my childhood and since then I’ve visit it 9 times, 6 different cities which included Sendai, a city in the north east which was damaged severely during the disaster, and the city that I visited the very last time in 2009. I have been following news all around, watching live streaming of Tokyo Broadcasting and NHK fear that, the place that I love and yet never really understood completely would all go down into the drain. Situation like this were suppose to create unity amount people. Many have been following the news since, and yet many have forgotten quickly. The lesson may be learned, situations may be solved or stabilized, but there still a long way till things back to where they used to be. What’s going to happen to these people one year, five years, ten years from now on? Where do we go from here?
Things are going to be a little bit different from now on. Good night, America. Good morning, Nippon.
